Outstanding Syrian artist Houmam al Sayed’s exquisite works have recently come on the worlds stage at Sotheby’s in Doha and at a successful sale at Christie’s in Dubai.

Although his calligraphic paintings appeal to all audiences, Houmam’s use of free formed letters which are without commitment or meaning are expertly rendered on the canvas in a musical way and still retain their basis in Oriental/Middle Eastern culture.

Houman takes the human figure to a new level of expression with his playful and childish representations of everyday people set in a specific time and space. The faces are distinctive in their formative build with strong and flexible characters which are grounded in his sculptural background.
