Romain Jean Maurice Arnette
Biography
Much of Romain's work is derived from his experimentation with the different mediums and processes he uses to create his art works. He focuses on the details of his surroundings and develops them in creative way to bring out a new vision of these once ordinary scenarios.
Romain works with various mediums including silkscreen, etching, photography, film and music. He often tries to find an element within these mediums that urge him to move from one project to another, finding the connection between the two and then incorporating the various techniques with one another - much like the process of layering in silkscreen.
He has created a 'database' of sounds, images and forms that can be controlled and reproduced to compose his pieces. He strives to find the perfect balance in the creation of his works, his processes are thought out symmetrically even if we, as the viewers, cannot see this directly in the final piece.
Romain is fascinated in reverse engineering - opening a machine or object to understand its full potential and function. It is this fascination that he applies to the mediums he uses; it is his methods that create his final pieces where he is in control of all the steps up to the final finished work. His understanding to control is his main inspiration.
