For the first time in Dubai, inspirational Iranian artist Elham Moaidnia will be exhibiting her latest collection entitled ‘Iran Today’, a stunning collection of paintings that offers a fresh and retrospective look at the plight of women within the Iranian culture.
Elham Moaidnia’s initial inspiration came from her birth town of Esfahan where Iranian motifs heavily influenced her work but as she grew as an artist and person, her work was soon replaced with expressionism. Most recently inspired by the work of Marc Chagall, Elham now considers her work to be ‘post-expressionist’ and is created from a mixture of water colour, oils, gouache and dilapidated paper from old books, newspapers and calligraphy,
Elham’s work depicts a country in turmoil and her work tells a story rather than simply depicting a picture.
“Iran Today” will be showing from 9th June to 15th July 2008
