AKBAR ALI (Contemporary Miniatures)

Graduate of the National College of Arts, with honours. Having caught the immediate attention of prominent art critics in Pakistan who rate him as one of the brightest young stars to have recently emerged, he has participated in several international group shows.  Working within the confines of traditional miniature technique, he has introduced new scale and subject matter not previously found in miniature work. His conceptual paintings are subtle yet steeped in social comment.

SALMAN FAROOQI (Acrylic on canvas)

Graduate of the Karachi School of Art, with distinction. He apprenticed with the renowned master Eqbal Mehdi and studied realism under his guidance. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past decade and has received critical and popular acclaim for his distinctive style, gritty subject matter and in particular his urban landscapes.

MAHBOOB ALI (Wood-Cut Prints)

Graduate of the National College of Arts. He is a pioneer of wood-cut prints, having been the first student at NCA to complete his thesis in this difficult and time consuming medium, and is deemed the most skilled wood-cut print artist in Pakistan, with some prints incorporating up to fifty colours. He has also gained international acclaim for his calligraphy work in pastel and mixed medium and has become very popular with art collectors, including Prince Charles.

JUNAID SAJID (Pen & Ink)

Graduate of the Karachi School of Art.  He apprenticed under the direct guidance of the late master Iqbal Mehdi.  Adapting his learnings to his own specific style, he favours realism, and his preferred medium is pen and ink.  His subject matter tends to highlight the under appreciated and ignored within the city and the culture that surrounds him, which he considers and projects as inspirational.  He has participated in several group shows and his work has been acquired by collectors internationally. 

NADEEM KHAN (Water Colour & Acrylic)

Graduate of the Karachi school of Art. He worked as a creative director and graphic designer for advertising agencies but having gained much success within that field, now focuses full time on his art.  His preferred mediums are water colour and acrylic and his themes are of the beauty and reverence of femininity and nature.  He has won several competitions and awards for his work.

A.S. RIND (Oils & Acrylics)

Graduate of the Karachi school of Art.  He primarily works with oils and acrylics but utilises pastels within some of his paintings.  With his Balochi/Saraiki background, he gets inspiration from his rich culture which he expresses in the form of motifs and jewellery adorned by the female figures in his paintings.  He has participated in several group shows and has gained international critical acclaim. “6 Pakistani” artists will be showing from 13th to 31st October 2010
