A commercial photographer, graphic artist and sculptor, Russ has utilized his diverse talents to establish a niche in Dubai. With a passion for portraiture, he has photographed a variety of subjects from celebrities and sporting stars to politicians, business leaders, families and children.

Russ began his artistic life as a sculptor, carving smooth body lines out of stone. He was awarded the 'Best apprentice stone carving' for his work in 1974 by the NAMM in the UK. His need for artistic expression saw him look to oil and canvas, creating strong abstract images for private commission.

During the 1980’s he was headhunted by a large UK publishing house to head their creative department. During this time, he employed his considerable graphic design and photographic skills with immeasurable success, constructing powerful images of international stars and iconic architecture.

It was at this time that he became seduced by the mystery and symbolic strength of the photographic image. Coupled with a desire to unravel the secrets of form and shape, he began to concentrate on individual and architectural portraiture. This led him into working full time as an image-maker in the advertising industry and being represented by the world’s largest picture agency, Getty. In 2010 Russ was awarded the title of Honary Colour Master Nominee in photojournalism in 'The photography Masters Cup'.

As an artist, Russ uses his depth of expression and experience to create hybrid images with impact. Greatly sensitized to his surroundings, he is constantly influenced by a continually evolving environment, using mixed media to communicate identity in flux.

In the commercial field, he continues to find great success creating and delivering high concept images for his growing client list in Dubai.
